Recorded Friday, October 23, 2026 | 13 minutes | Eric Ward, VP, New Sales, and Andrea Desmarais, Sr. Director, Product Management, Covetrus.
Eric Ward: […] Andrea Desmarais, who is going to be leading most of the presentation today, after I introduce everything.
So, first and foremost, why are we here? We know that today, third-party requests are coming in, and it’s creating a lot of problems in some of the practices we work with. A number of different activities happen, and it gets very complicated. These third-party requests come in through different channels. Different people in your organization are touching them. And the communication back to the client also gets complicated and confusing. The good news is that we have a solution to make that much easier.
Now, with vRxPro, which is our online pharmacy, and our latest feature, RxAssist, we can retrieve, validate, and approve all third-party scripts very easily, and in a consistent, concise way, all within vRxPro. The good news is you don’t have to believe me. We’re actually going to show you. It’s a very powerful tool that has been proven, when it’s been implemented, to greatly reduce time and increase efficiency within practices.
So now I’m going to turn things over to Andrea and have her go through a demonstration of both vRxPro and the RxAssist feature. Take it away, Andrea.
Andrea Desmarais: Thanks, Eric. I’m going to get vRxPro up on the screen. Can everyone see that okay? Great. I appreciate everyone joining today. I’m excited to show you the new RxAssist feature in vRxPro to make managing prescriptions for your clients even easier.
Within vRxPro, we have a new section called RxAssist that pulls in all the different prescription requests you get across your practice, whether they’re from other online retailers, other pharmacies, other hospitals, or from your pet parents directly. Anything you decide you want to come into RxAssist is set up by you with a few forwarding rules in your practice’s email or eFax, which takes about five minutes. Then we pull the requests in here, and based on the information provided, we get things ready for you to generate a prescription.
I have a few examples I’ve created, and we’ll go through a couple. Here we have a patient named Spike who’s looking to get some Bravecto. You can always click the info button. It shows you the exact email that came through and who it came from, and you can print that email for any records you may need. Simply clicking the Rx icon takes you directly to our script pad with everything populated. The few things you’ll have to fill in are the units you want per fill, the refills you want them to have, and your directions. Then you can authorize the prescription.
When you authorize the prescription, a few things happen. Your client gets a text message and an email, based on their communication preferences, letting them know you’ve created a prescription for them on your vRxPro-affiliated storefront. It also offers them an appropriate discount to purchase that prescription from your storefront, which is super easy for your pet parents and lets you capture that prescription revenue with your storefront partnered with Covetrus.
We also take into consideration when we may not know all of the exact information. Here, you’ll see one highlighted as needing review. When you click the Rx button, we take you as far as we can. We’re looking for Lucy Desmarais. You can always open the attachment to see why it might not have matched right away and how to find the right Lucy. Under my account here, I have my last name spelled a little differently, just so I could show you that if we can’t find an exact match, we present the closest match options. When you confirm, “Yes, this is Lucy for this particular client,” it takes you directly to the script pad with everything your client is requesting. You can see our current pricing and everything you need there, so you can send the recommendation right over to your client.
As you process and track these, you can see any that you’ve sent. You can pull them back open and quickly view the prescription. If your client reaches out and says, “I remember I got a text message, but I deleted it, or I can’t find it. Can you resend it?” you can go in here, click to view the prescription, and simply resend it, which automatically resends the same communication with the same offers to your pet parent.
You can also track orders once they’ve been placed. On my demo account, none of my orders actually process, but if a client calls in and says, “I did order. Can you track it for me?” you can get all the way through to our tracking and pull up those numbers.
If for any reason you’ve dismissed a request, whether it’s because the client needs an appointment, or they purchased it elsewhere, or they came into the clinic and purchased it, you can see the dismissal reason here, along with why you chose not to fill it through the vRxPro store.
We also make it easy to find everything you need to set up. Those guides are here. Again, it takes about five minutes to set up RxAssist and have all of those third-party prescriptions coming into one centralized place for you to manage. You can work through a queue rather than looking at three or four different portals, fax machines, emails, and Post-its stuck somewhere because you have some notes. It’s really to help with efficiency and managing those prescriptions as quickly and easily as possible for your practice. And I will hand it back over to you, Eric.
Eric Ward: Thanks, Andrea. If that wasn’t enough, this is what practices see with vRxPro. We see 2.8 times the revenue for practices that offer both in-clinic and online options. The subtext of this whole slide is that if you don’t have an online store, it’s not going to cannibalize your in-clinic revenue, and there’s a lot of data that supports that. Second, it’s going to make you a lot more money.
It’s also going to improve loyalty. Eighty-seven percent of pet parents return to make repeat purchases. That’s great for your practice. It keeps them loyal to you as opposed to going to big-box retailers or online, and it keeps that revenue in house. Pet parents enrolled in Autoship stay on necessary medications two times longer, and personalized digital outreach brings 20% more first-time buyers. What that means is that the digital outreach that comes with vRxPro is going to drive more customers to your website. Ultimately, this is going to make you money, make your pet parents happier, save you time, and increase the loyalty we talked about.
If you’re already on vRxPro, you can turn on RxAssist very easily, with either a Gmail or a Yahoo setup. It couldn’t be easier. Get that done, save yourself time, and create more revenue while increasing the efficiencies we talked about. If you’re new to vRxPro, it can be set up really quickly and easily.
If you want more information, you can go to the Covetrus website, click on online pharmacy and vRxPro, and request a demo. One of our salespeople will reach out and schedule a meeting with you right away so you can see it in detail.
One of the great advantages of vRxPro is that it’s the only online pharmacy that offers ongoing field support. All of our vRxPro customers are assigned a Clinical Growth Adviser. Their whole job is to help you optimize your storefront to make it more efficient and generate more revenue for your practice. That’s a huge benefit of the vRxPro offering.
Eric Ward: What’s going to happen next? If you registered for or attended this webinar, somebody will reach out to you to make sure you got the information you were looking for, answer any questions, and potentially schedule a demo if you’re not already a customer. They can also give you guidance on how to set up RxAssist when they reach out, so be ready for that. The recording is on its way, as I mentioned earlier. You’ll all get a recording of this webinar, as well as the answers to the questions that have been posted. And again, please schedule a demo.
Not only is vRxPro the best-of-breed online pharmacy, but it also sits as part of the product family we call the Covetrus platform. Combined with our PIMS solution, our payment processing, and our VetSuite partner offering, it becomes even more powerful, generates more revenue, and makes your practice more efficient. Please don’t hesitate to schedule a demo for vRxPro or any of our technology solutions.
I think that might be it. If there are any questions from the audience, we can try to answer those quickly now. I do see a question that came in.
Andrea Desmarais: The question is whether it’s required to use Gmail or Yahoo. Those are not required. We’ve been partnering with several practices, and I think we now have instructions for 10 or 15 different email providers. We’re really partnering with the provider you have in place to set up the solution.
Eric Ward: Any other questions? I don’t see any. I’ll give you another second here. If not, thank you for attending. Thanks, everybody.
Andrea Desmarais: Thank you.
Eric Ward, VP of New Sales, and Andrea Desmarais, Sr. Director of Product Management at Covetrus, introduce RxAssist, a new vRxPro feature that gathers third-party prescription requests in one place. Eric opens with the problem: requests arrive through several channels, pass through several team members, and make client communication confusing.
Andrea then demonstrates RxAssist live. Practices set up forwarding rules in their email or eFax in about five minutes, and requests from online retailers, pharmacies, hospitals, and pet parents flow into one queue. Staff open the original request, click the Rx icon to launch a prefilled script pad, add units per fill, refills, and directions, and authorize. The pet parent receives a text and email with an offer to buy from the practice’s vRxPro storefront. Andrea also shows how RxAssist handles requests that don’t match a client, how to resend and track prescriptions, and how to review dismissal reasons.
Eric closes with practice results from vRxPro, the Clinical Growth Adviser support model, and next steps for scheduling a demo.
Do we need Gmail or Yahoo to use RxAssist? No. Those were examples. Covetrus has setup instructions for 10 to 15 email providers and works with the one your practice already uses.
How long does RxAssist take to set up? About five minutes. Guides are available inside RxAssist.
What happens if RxAssist can’t match the client or patient? The request is flagged for review. When you click Rx, RxAssist shows the closest matches, and you confirm the right one before the script pad opens.
What if a client says they can’t find the text message? Open the sent prescription and resend it. The same message and offer go to the pet parent.
Can we track an order a client has placed? Yes. Tracking is available from the RxAssist list.
